Hydro Excavation & More from T-Rex Services

Hydro Excavation News: From Fracking to Norway to South Texas to the US Energy Boom, here are a few of the more interesting articles we have come across lately…

How fracking weakens Gazprom, the bedrock beneath Putin’s feet

But now Gazprom is under threat. Over the past five years, the technology known as hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, has unlocked vast amounts of shale gas in the United States, Canada, North Africa and the Middle East. Suddenly gas is in abundance, prices are falling and the possibilities of shipping liquefied natural gas, or LNG, on tankers around the world seem endless.

Five years ago, Gazprom was close to shipping gas from Russia’s Eastern Arctic to the United States. No longer. Thanks to fracking, the United States has so much shale gas it will soon be a gas exporter, and many other countries, including Qatar and Australia, are exploiting their LNG potential as well…

Texas oil production surpasses Norway

Texas is now producing more oil than Norway, a country whose riches have been directly tied to its supplies of black gold.

Texas oil production meanwhile has been steadily growing, reaching more than 1.9 million barrels per day in January 2012 and accounting for the lion’s share of U.S. domestic production. Texas produced about 2 million barrels in the late 1980s. Suffering from rock bottom oil prices, that rate dropped to about 1.2 million barrels per day in 2005 and hovered there until about 2010. Then the shale boom began to spread its wings…

American energy and economics: Better out than in

ON AMERICA’S Gulf coast, massive industrial facilities stand idle. Miles of twisting stainless-steel pipes and huge storage tanks gleam uselessly in the sun. They are a reminder of the hundreds of billions of dollars that America has invested in terminals for handling imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Thanks to the boom in domestic shale gas, those imports are no longer needed. America produces nearly as much gas as it consumes, and will soon produce far more.

So the obvious thing to do with those idle terminals is to re-engineer them to handle exports. Instead of receiving shiploads of liquefied gas and re-gasifying it, they should be taking American gas, liquefying it and loading it onto tankers. Converting these plants will not be cheap—each one will cost at least $5 billion. But the potential rewards are much larger…

Power shift: Energy boom dawning in America

Politicians have been warning for decades that the U.S. must wean itself from foreign energy, but just a few years ago their words seemed like so much wishful thinking: The U.S. was facing what seemed like ever-rising oil prices and was importing about 60 percent of its supply. Natural gas inventories were shrinking, and the country was considering importing a liquified form from the Middle East.

But in a turnaround that industry insiders describe as nothing short of amazing, the picture has drastically changed. Oil and natural gas drilling is now booming in places like Eagle Ford, Texas, and the Bakken formation in North Dakota, bringing jobs and prosperity to those regions. And believers say the newfound resource is so much bigger than anticipated that it can help drive economic growth nationwide for years to come…

Hydro Excavation & More from T-Rex Services

Just a few of the more interesting links we found this week for information on the Eagle Ford Shale. We here at T-Rex are proud to working with clients, providing fast, safe, non-destructive Hydro Excavation Services on projects that are creating jobs and stimulating the economy.

Largest oil producers in the Eagle Ford Shale, slideshow >>

The San Antonio Business Journal has devoted a great deal of coverage to Eagle Ford Shale, a geologic formation that spans some 24 counties. A University of Texas at San Antonio Institute for Economic Development study released last year found that the Eagle Ford Shale contributed some $25 billion in economic impact to the South Texas region in 2011.

Eagle Ford Shale Plays Key Role In Austin Legislative Discussions

Funding for Eagle Ford Shale infrastructure improvements, as well as, road safety concerns were also a topic of discussion with State Representative Tracy King.

In China, It’s the Year of the Snake… In the U.S., It’s the Year of the Tank Car

In China, 2013 is the Year of the Snake. According to the website HanBan.com, this means that 2013 should be a year of steady progress and attention to detail. Focus and discipline will be necessary in order to achieve goals.

In the U.S., 2013 might well be called the Year of the Tanker Car, particularly if you are an oil producer in the Bakken or the Eagle Ford shale formations.

And just for fun… UFO Sightings on the Rise near the Eagle Ford Shale

Some strange lights in the sky have workers out near the Eagle Ford Shale oil field asking, are we alone, or is there something else out there?
